On top of receiving a great overall score, this facility received an A+ inspection grade. This grade is based on its recent inspection reports. An A+ in this area is one of the highest complements we can pay to a facility. Inspection grades are based on several items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this category tend to have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This facility received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to cause an imminent risk to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing score. This proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this facility an A+. There are quite a few datapoints within this area. Most of these datapoints reflect the quantity of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.7 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

We also want to emphasize the fact that this nursing home was given an impressive score of A in our short-term care area. In crafting these short-term care ratings, we assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The objective is to create a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final item we assessed in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 5.6 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

In the last category we scored, this facility was given an impressive grade grade of A in our long-term care category. With this grade, the nursing home completed a straight A report card. For prospective residents seeking a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are very important. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination record. Unfortunately, we were not able to track down information on vaccination rates. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
