Facility Inspections
In addition to being a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. Inspection grades are tied to several datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that receive favorable grades in this category typically have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. We were not able to track down deficiency data for this nursing home. Nurse Quality
Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A. There are a host of subcategories within this grade. Most of these datapoints reflect levels of nurse staffing. This particular facility provided 4.8 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This was one of the more impressive figures we found. Furthermore, a significant percentage of this care was provided by registered nurses, which are highly skilled nurses. These are both really impressive figures. On top of offering impressive levels of care, this facility also excelled in the quality-based metrics we assessed. It performed as well as any nursing home in Missouri in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Long-term Care Quality
We also would like to note the fact that this nursing home received a superb score of A- in our long-term care category. Facilities that receive this kind of grade in this category tend to provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure residents are well cared for. On top of providing well above average levels of nursing care and other staffing, this facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. This figure is also far higher than the majority of nursing homes. This combination proved to be successful as this place also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 1.6 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we looked at is short-term care, where this nursing home was awarded a grade of B. Believe it or not, this turned out to be this nursing home's weakest area. A facility could be doing a lot worse when it's lowest grade still outperforms most facilities. Our short-term care grades are based on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a broad scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. This nursing home elevated its grade in this category by offering more care from registered nurses to its residents than the typical nursing home. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
