Facility Inspections
We want to point out that this facility really outperformed its overall grade in the category of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, we gave it one of our highest grades in this area with an A. Our inspection scores are based on many pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes that receive favorable grades in this area typically have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this place had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
Another one of this facility's more favorable category scores came in the category of long-term care. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B+. When facilities receive this type of grade in long-term care it is usually a good sign for resident care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. After considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 99.54338 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is significantly higher than most nursing homes. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home's nursing grade appears to be one of its better features. The facility received a grade of C in this category. When calculating our nursing scores, we factor in both nursing hours and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this facility performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is usually an indicator that a place has quality controls in place.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to the last category, we gave this facility a grade of D for the area of short-term care. This was the nursing home's least impressive category grade. Unfortunately, this score pulled down the nursing home's overall profile to some degree. In the area of short-term care, we attempt to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We look at the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. In this place's case, it looks like it offers less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the typical facility. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 4.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
