While we graded this nursing home incredibly poorly overall, it received a somewhat respectable nursing grade this year. We gave it a B- in that category. Our nursing rating focuses on the facility's nurse staffing levels. We consider both the levels of skill of those nurses and the amount of time spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this nursing home actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is usually an indicator that a place has quality controls in place.

Unfortunately, this nursing home earned really poor inspection reports in recent years, causing us to give them an F for inspections. An F in this category is usually a signal that we found some red flags on its government inspection reports. We would advise paying special attention to any deficiencies on a facility's inspection reports when it receives this poor of an inspection rating. We would pay close attention to the severity of those deficiencies. This particular facility was hit with 4 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only positive thing we can say is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that suggest that they posed a risk to resident health or safety. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.

Our next area we graded is long-term care, where this facility was given an F. Long-term care ratings in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We were a bit concerned this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 69.88847 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.

The final area we looked at was short-term care. We gave it an abysmal F for this category, which is a rock bottom score. Our short-term care scores are considered to be more important for folks in need of rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation typically utilizes additional highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not only nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. As you might expect, we discovered that this place provides significantly less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the typical facility. Finally, we considered the number of patients that returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.6 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit off the national average.
