In addition to receiving a great overall score, this nursing home received an A+ in our short-term care category. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we look at a facility's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This grade is generally a useful measure of a facility's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last datapoint we considered in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 6.4 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing rating. In that category, we gave this nursing home an A. There are a host of factors included in this grade. Many of these datapoints reflect nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by having a protocol of turning patients more frequently.

Moving on our third area, this facility received a strong long-term care score. In fact, we awarded it a score of A in this area. Nursing homes that receive this kind of score in long-term care typically provide consistent around the clock care to ensure residents are well cared for. One of the datapoints we considered after nursing hours is vaccines. It does not look like this facility provided information about vaccinations. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

In the final category we assessed, this nursing home received a decent grade in the area of inspections as well. We awarded it a score of B for that category. Inspection ratings are tied to several data points found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that excel in this category typically have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Unfortunately, it does not appear that we were able to find information on deficiency's for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
