In addition to being a respectable facility overall, this place really excelled in the area of inspections, where it received a grade of A-. Few facilities performed better in this area. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection ratings. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be quite minor. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.

Another one of this facility's more favorable category grades came in the area of long-term care. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of B+. It actually outpaced most nursing homes in this category. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care typically provide residents with closer supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. After assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 94.22222 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents out of the hospital. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.12 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes.

This nursing home's nursing grade appears to be one of its better features. The facility received a grade of B- in this category. Our nursing grade weighs numerous subcategories. The most heavily weighted one is the quantity of hours nurses spent with patients. This nursing home averages just 3.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily, which is not an impressive total. Although this facility didn't really impress in terms of the quantity of nursing care offered, it surprisingly performed admirably in a few of our quality-based metrics. It was above average in two of the major subcategories we assess, with good scores for minimizing its patients' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Our next area is short-term care, where we awarded this nursing home a C in that area. In the area of short-term care, we try to evaluate indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. We were pleased to find that this nursing home employs both registered nurses and physical therapists. The same can't be said for all nursing homes. The last statistic we assessed in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. This place was respectable in this area with 47.3 percent of its patients returning home.
