Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

In addition to being a respectable nursing home overall, this facility also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an A-. Few facilities performed better in this area. Inspection ratings account for several factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better grades in this category typically have very few severe deficiencies. This place was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe. This means that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies to pose an imminent risk to resident health or safety. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next best area we gave this facility in any category came in the area of short-term care, where we awarded it a B-. In the category of short-term care, we try to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who ultimately were able to return home from this facility. We found that 4.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was actually quite a bit below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This nursing home's next highest area was long-term care. In that area, we awarded this facility a B-. Our long-term care grades are more meaningful for patients in need of more conventional services related to activities of daily living. After considering the volume of nursing care, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. We were optimistic to discover that this nursing home vaccinates 99.5671 percent of its patients for pneumonia. This facility also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

Switching gears to our next area, this facility was given a respectable nursing grade of B-. When calculating our nursing grades, we factor in both nursing hours and the levels of licensure of those nurses. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Lastly, we also baked some quality-based metrics into our nursing scores. This place was subpar in two of the major areas we look at, with below average scores for minimizing its patients' major falls and pressure ulcers. These areas are usually reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care provided.
