Facility Inspections
While this place's overall grade was not a highlight, it actually received a very good grade in the category of inspections. We awarded it a B+ for that area, which is one of our better grades. Perhaps the most critical factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. It is generally best to avoid nursing homes that had too many deficiencies. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. The lack of deficiencies proved to be this facility's best achievement.
Short-term Care Quality
We also awarded this facility a strong grade in short-term care. This facility received a grade of B in this category, which happens to be one of our better scores. In the area of short-term care, we strive to assess indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We look at the facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last measure we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that 6.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
The third area we assessed is long-term care. This nursing home's was given a rock-bottom long-term care grade where it received a lowly F. For long-term care residents, the nursing home's primary objective is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home gave the vaccine to 95.19519 percent of its residents, which is a very respectable total. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
Nurse Quality
Turning to our fourth category, this facility really didn't perform well in this category either. With a poor grade of F in nursing, this is really as as uninspiring as it gets. There are a variety of criteria within this grade. Many of the subcategories relate to nurse staffing. This facility provided a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is well below average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing scores. This facility fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these data points to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.
