We want to point out that this nursing home's short-term care score outpaced its overall score. This facility earned a B+ in this area, which is a strong grade. Our short-term care grades are arguably more important for residents needing a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes more highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means not only nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. This nursing home employs both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities employ these skilled professionals. Finally, we considered the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home, which as an area this facility performed much more favorably. This place outperformed the vast majority of facilities in this area with 61 percent of its residents returning home. This is a significantly higher rate than most facilities.

Inspections is another area where this facility excelled. In fact, we awarded this facility an B+ for our inspections category. This is far more impressive than its overall grade. Inspection grades weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better scores in this category usually have few of these severe deficiencies. This place received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This means that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies an imminent threat to resident safety or health. A couple of minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

The next highest grade we gave this nursing home in any area came in the category of nursing, where we gave it a grade of C. Nursing grades are tied to levels of nurse staffing. Based on the CMS data, this nursing home offers 3.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, our nursing ratings also factor in quality-based metrics, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed above average in this area. This is typically a good measure of how carefully a place's nursing staff is tending to its residents. Major falls can typically be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Turning to the next category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of D in our long-term care category. This was the nursing home's worst category grade. For prospective residents in need of a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 99.18368 percent of its patients. Lastly, we looked at the facility's number of hospitalizations. Here we found that this nursing home fared radically worse with 4.14 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, this statistic is more than double the national average.
