Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

One of the reasons this nursing home performed so well overall is that it excelled in the area of nursing, with a grade of B+ in that category. The nursing grade weighs a handful of datapoints, but the most important consideration is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This nursing home was given a strong long-term care score as well. We gave it one of our better grades in that area with a grade of B. In a long-term care environment, the facility's primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 92.7305 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is slightly below what we anticipated but still a respectable percentage. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Additionally, this nursing home also was awarded favorable short-term care grades in our assessment. In fact, we gave it one of our better grades in that category, with a score of B. In calculating our short-term care ratings, we look at the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. This rating is typically a meaningful assessment of a nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

Finally, we also gave this nursing home a grade of B- for our inspections category. This nursing home didn't have any real weaknesses. Our inspection grades are based on several items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these reports. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to the well being of residents. Unfortunately, it does not look like we have deficiency data for this nursing home. We wish we had more data for this nursing home. Without all of the deficiency related data, it was a challenge to evaluate the place in the inspections category.
