Facility Inspections
Although we gave this facility a horrible overall score, we awarded it a grade of A- for our inspections rating. This score is far more impressive than the nursing home's overall grade. Our inspection ratings account for several factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid nursing homes with a bunch of severe deficiencies flagged. This nursing home was hit with 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This indicates that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies an immediate risk to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this facility only received a D for its long-term care rating, which ended up being one of its higher category grades. For patients looking for a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. After we finished assessing the volume of nursing care, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. We were pleased to find that this facility vaccinated 99.54023 percent of its patients for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this facility also keeps its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.

Short-term Care Quality
Additionally, we gave this facility an F in the area of short-term care. Our short-term care grade is commonly employed to grade a facility's performance with rehabilitation In order to have high-end rehabilitation services, facilities generally must have better levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. As you might expect, we discovered that this place offers far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than a typical nursing home. The last statistic we considered in this area is the number of residents who were able to return home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.3 percent of its patients returning home. This was well below the national average.
Nurse Quality
The last area we graded is nursing, in which this nursing home was given an abysmal score here as well. Sadly, it received a lowly F for this category, which is obviously very concerning. There are several criteria included in this area. Many of these subcategories reflect staffing levels. This place offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. In addition to receiving below average marks for nursing hours, this nursing home was a bit less impressive in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in calculating our nursing ratings. We looked at the percentage of residents sustaining pressure ulcers and found that this facility was at roughly 1.5 times the national average in this statistic.
