Facility Inspections
While we were not very complementary of this facility's overall grade, it received a very impressive inspection report this year. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our best scores in that category with an A-. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection grades. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these can be quite minor. This place was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered severe. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to pose an imminent risk to resident health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this facility only earned a grade of D for its long-term care grade, which turns out to be one of its higher category scores. Nursing homes that receive this kind of grade in this category may not provide the type of consistent around the clock care that some other nursing homes offer. After we finished assessing the amount of care provided by nurses, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. Candidly, we were a bit concerned this facility vaccinated just 85.02024 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this facility was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility's second worse category is short-term care, where it received a grade of just D in that category. This is a relatively poor grade. With our short-term care assessment, we attempt to craft a valuable measure for rehabilitation. In this process, we assess the nursing home's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Given its score in this category, we weren't surprised to learn that this facility is well below average in terms of the quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we looked at. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. This definitely was not a strength for this nursing home. We found that just 4.1 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, about half of their patients are able to return home so this is well below average.
Nurse Quality
The final category we scored was nursing. Unfortunately, we gave it an F in this category, which is a very poor score. In calculating a nursing home's nursing score, we assess the quantity of hours nurses are seeing patients and the levels of training of those nurses. This place offered only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is an alarmingly low total. To pair with its subpar totals in the area of nursing hours per patient, this nursing home also did not perform as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in determining our nursing grades. We looked at the percentage of patients sustaining pressure ulcers and major falls. This nursing home had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average facility.
