Facility Inspections

Grade: A

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this facility had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Among this nursing home's other strengths is its top-shelf long-term care score. We gave them one of our most favorable grades in that area, with a score of A-. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care tend to provide patients with closer supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. One of the factors we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccinations. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 98.742134 percent of its residents. This is a great way to avoid unnecessary hospitalizations for the senior population. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.12 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The next best area we awarded this facility in any category came in the area of short-term care, where we awarded it a grade of C. In the area of short-term care, we strive to assess measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We look at a facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. This nursing home employs both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities employ these skilled professionals. The final datapoint we considered in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that it fared well in this area with 56.1 percent of its patients returning home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

This facility's weakest category is nursing, which is the final category we assessed. In this category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of D. There are several data points included in this category. Many of these factors are tied to the quantity of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 3.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which is below the national average. Unfortunately, this place also didn't fare as well as we hoped in some of the quality measures we assessed for this category.
