Facility Inspections
One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this category most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to be an immediate threat to patient health or safety. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
Adding to its dominant resume, this facility also excelled in our short-term care area. In fact, we gave it a grade of A for the area. Short-term care ratings are based on a nursing home's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a broad spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who who were able to eventually return home from this facility. We found that 5.6 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a strong nursing score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B+ in this area. In calculating a nursing home's nursing grade, we weigh the number of hours nurses are caring for residents and the level of licensure of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a protocol of turning residents at least once a day.
Long-term Care Quality
Moving on to the fourth category, this nursing home was awarded a highly favorable long-term care rating. While this is not as good as several of its other category grades, this is still one of our better scores we offer. Long-term care ratings in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. One of the factors we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccines. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. This is a great way to minimize unnecessary deaths for the senior population. Lastly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
