One of the many reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical category. Inspection grades account for several factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher scores in this category typically have very few severe deficiencies. Unfortunately, we were not able to locate information on deficiency's for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Additionally, this nursing home also received favorable long-term care grades in our assessment. Indeed, we gave it one of our stronger grades in that category, with a grade of B+. In a long-term care setting, the nursing home's primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. After considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 92.71709 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which happens to be a bit less than we anticipated but still a respectable percentage. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

This facility was given a strong short-term care grade as well. We gave it one of our better grades in that area with a score of B+. In our short-term care rating, we attempt to craft a fair gauge for rehabilitation. In this process, we analyze the nursing home's level of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. This nursing home employs both physical therapists and registered nurses. Not all facilities employ these skilled professionals. The last statistic we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. This proved to be more of a strength for this facility. This place performed as well as just about any nursing home in North Carolina in this area with 62.2 percent of its residents returning home.

The next area we graded is nursing. In that area, we awarded this facility an impressive grade of B. We weighed the qualifications of nurses working for the nursing home, as well as the number of hours those nurses spent with residents, in determining our score in this category. This nursing home provides 3.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
