Facility Inspections
We also wanted to emphasize that this facility earned near flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A+ in this area. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection scores. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these can be relatively insignificant. Unfortunately, it does not look like we were able to find information about this nursing home's deficiencies. We wish we had more data for this facility. Without the deficiency related data, it was challenging to really assess this facility in this category.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing score. Nursing proved to be its second best category grade. In that area, we gave this facility an A. We analyzed the licensure of nurses working for the nursing home, in addition to the number of hours the nurses worked with residents, in computing our rating in this category. This facility provided 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality
Building on its high-end resume, this facility also was given a strong short-term care grade, with a grade of A. Short-term care scores are important for patients in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires more skilled nursing. This includes a broad spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the number of residents that who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we rated is long-term care, where this facility was awarded a grade of B. While this turned out to be its least impressive category score, this is still a strong score. For patients looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We were not able to find this facility's vaccination rates. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
