Facility Inspections
While we gave this nursing home a terrible overall grade, we gave it a B+ for our inspections category. This is the result of the nursing home receiving a quality government inspection report this year. Inspection grades account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid facilities with too many deficiencies flagged. While this place had a few deficiencies on its report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's second most respectable category was long-term care, but it nevertheless received just a D in that category. This turns out to be a well below average score. Facilities that receive this type of grade in long-term care likely don't provide the kind of consistent 24/7 care that some other facilities offer. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We were a bit alarmed this nursing home provided the vaccine to a relatively low 36.492893 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes. This is its best score in this category.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's poor nursing grade where it received an F. Our nursing rating is based on quite a few components, but the most important consideration is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place fared well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we rated was short-term care, in which this facility was given an abysmal grade in this area also. We gave it an F for this area, which is definitely a major disappointment. In our short-term care grade, we strive to craft a valuable barometer for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze a facility's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. As you might expect, we learned that this place offers far less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than the average facility. The last metric we looked at in this category is the number of residents that ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.2 percent of its residents returning home.
