Facility Inspections
While we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it a grade of B for our inspections category. This score is far more impressive than the place's overall score. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be relatively minor. This particular nursing home received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.
Long-term Care Quality
We also awarded this facility a respectable grade in the category of long-term care, where we awarded it a B-. Our long-term care grade assesses a facility's personal care rather than the highly skilled therapy or medical services that are critical to a rehabilitation facility. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Candidly, we were a bit worried that this facility vaccinated just 88.32117 percent of its residents. Nevertheless, this place was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality
We gave this facility a grade of just D for our nursing rating. There are a number of subcategories within this grade. Many of the factors relate to levels of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This place fared well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these metrics to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we graded is short-term care. This nursing home received a bottom of the barrel grade of F in that category. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on the facility's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a vast scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. With a score of this caliber in this area, we were not stunned to learn this facility was below average in several staffing areas we looked at. The nursing home supplied far fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most facilities. The last metric we considered in this category is the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.2 percent of its patients returning home. Unfortunately, this was well below the national average.
