Grade: A

On top of earning a strong overall grade, this facility also received an elite short-term care grade. We gave them one of our higher scores in that area, with an A. In computing our short-term care scores, we assess the facility's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This category is generally a reliable measure of the nursing home's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 6.3 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

The nursing score weighs several components, most of which are associated with levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Moving on to another of this facility's strengths, it also received a very impressive inspection grade. This turned out to be one of its best grades. In that category, we gave this facility an impressive grade of B+. Inspection scores account for several factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher grades in this area typically have very few severe deficiencies. This place was assessed 11 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This indicates that CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies to be an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The last area we assessed is long-term care, where this facility was awarded a C. This actually was this nursing home's worst area. This is nevertheless a middle of the pack score. With our long-term care score, we focus on the sheer volume of care provided by a facility, along with some quality measures. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Candidly, we were a bit worried that this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 87.68473 percent of its residents. Nevertheless, this place keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
