Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of C for our nursing rating. Our nursing rating looks at the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We weigh both the levels of licensure of those nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with patients. This facility provided just 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home actually fared better in some of the quality measures we looked at. In fact, it scored well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these areas to be good measures of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is every bit as important as the quantity of hours of care provided.
Long-term Care Quality
We were also pleasantly surprised to learn that this facility earned a somewhat respectable long-term care score in our assessment. We gave it a C in that area. Our long-term care ratings are more important for patients needing more conventional assistance related to activities of daily living. One of the criteria we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours was vaccines. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 92.41706 percent of its patients. On a more positive note, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Facility Inspections
Sadly, this facility received a grade of just D in our inspection category. This is well below average grade. Our inspection scores factor in many items found on the facility's inspection reports. When you find too many deficiencies on the reports, this is generally the worst sign. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to patient safety. This nursing home was assessed 6 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only positive thing we found is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that indicate they created a risk to resident safety or health. Finally, we want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home was assessed significant government fines in recent years in excess of $50,000. This typically suggests that CMS inspectors grew tired after multiple years of bad inspections.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we looked at is short-term care. It received an F for this category, which is a poor score. In the area of short-term care, we try to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We assess the facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. With its poor rating in this category, we weren't stunned to find this facility offers substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other facilities. The final metric we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these subpar statistics sunk this facility's short-term care score.
