To pair with its favorable overall performance, we gave this facility an A for our inspections rating. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in determining our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher scores in this category most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This means that the inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to be an immediate risk to patient health or safety. A couple minor dings aren't necessarily the end of the world.

Our nursing score is mostly based on a facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

In addition, this facility also received favorable short-term care scores this year. In fact, we gave them one of our more favorable grades in that area, with a grade of B. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to evaluate measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We assess a facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. It doesn't look like this facility provided registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. The last datapoint we looked at in this area is the number of residents that ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

The next area we graded was long-term care. This nursing home received a favorable long-term care rating this year, with a grade of B-. While this isn't quite as strong as a few of its other grades, this is still an acceptable score in this category. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Frankly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this nursing home administered the vaccine to just 73.333336 percent of its patients. Nevertheless, this nursing home was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
