While this facility's overall grade was decent, it really excelled in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A+ for that category, which is one of our highest scores. These inspection grades weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Based on this, we had favorable view of this nursing home's inspections.

This nursing home also performed well in the area of long-term care, with top notch score of A- in this area. When facilities receive a grade in this range in this category it generally means it's well-staffed and is a quality place to live on a permanent basis. After we finished looking at the volume of care provided by nurses, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 99.11538 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia is often a life threatening health condition for nursing home patients so we prefer when a facility does not leave this to chance. Finally, we looked at its number of hospitalizations. Although it had 3.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, its risk adjusted score was middle of the road due to it having some more complex patients.

Tragically, we gave this facility an F for its short-term care grade. Our short-term care grades are crucial for individuals requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes additional highly-skilled nursing. This includes a wide range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. With a grade of this caliber for this category, we weren't stunned to discover this facility was well below average in several staffing metrics we focus on. The nursing home provided far fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other nursing homes. The final statistic we assessed in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 35.1 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these poor statistics doomed this facility's short-term care score.

Turning to our final category, this nursing home did not fare well. Due to a very poor grade of F in nursing, this is this facility's poorest category grade. The nursing score features numerous data points. The most heavily weighted one is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This place offered a meager 2.9 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. Finally, we also looked at a few quality measures in determining our nursing ratings. This facility was above average in two of the major statistics we focus on, with good scores for avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
