Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home really excelled in the category of long-term care, where it received a score of A. Only a select group of nursing homes performed more favorably in this category. For prospective patients looking for a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. One of the criteria we considered after nursing hours was vaccines. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 77.916664 percent of its patients. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, we were pleased to find facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility's next best category was its nursing grade, where it received a grade of B-. While this didn't quite match its scores in some of the categories discussed above, this is still a decent score. In determining a facility's nursing rating, we consider the amount of time nurses are with residents and the level of skill of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place surprisingly excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. In fact, it performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last area we looked at ended up being this nursing home's poorest area. However, even in its worst category we still awarded it an acceptable grade of B- in our short-term care category. In computing our short-term care grades, we assess a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This rating is frequently a reliable measure of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last datapoint we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from the facility. We found that just 5.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below the national average.
