Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category was its nursing grade, where it received a grade of B-. While this didn't quite match its scores in some of the categories discussed above, this is still a decent score. In determining a facility's nursing rating, we consider the amount of time nurses are with residents and the level of skill of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place surprisingly excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. In fact, it performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we looked at ended up being this nursing home's poorest area. However, even in its worst category we still awarded it an acceptable grade of B- in our short-term care category. In computing our short-term care grades, we assess a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This rating is frequently a reliable measure of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last datapoint we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from the facility. We found that just 5.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. Unfortunately, this was below the national average.
