Facility Inspections
Although this facility's overall score was terrible, it actually fared well in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of B for that category, which is one of our better scores. Arguably the most important factor we consider in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's inspection reports. It is typically in your best interest to avoid facilities that have too many deficiencies. This place was hit with 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that CMS didn't deem any of these deficiencies to create an immediate risk to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies aren't necessarily the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
This facility ended up receiving rock bottom score in our nursing category. It received an F in this category. We analyzed the qualifications of nurses at the nursing home, as well as the number of hours the nurses spent with patients, in calculating our grade in this category. This particular facility averaged just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This figure is quite a bit below average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing ratings. This place performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these statistics to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality
Another concern was the F this nursing home was given in the category of long-term care. In a long-term care setting, the nursing home's primary objective is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. After we finished looking at the amount of nursing care, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination record. We were pleased to find that this facility vaccinates 96.68508 percent of its residents against pneumonia. To our surprise, this place also fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
Short-term Care Quality
The next category we looked at was short-term care. We gave it a lowly F for this category, which is a poor grade. In determining our short-term care grades, we size up a facility's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This grade is more often than not a reliable measure of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we looked at the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.1 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
