Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

While this nursing home's overall grade was decent, it really fared well in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category, which is one of our best scores. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing score. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B. When determining our nursing ratings, we factor in both nursing hours and the training levels of the nurses. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as having a protocol of moving a resident at least once a day.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The third area we graded is short-term care. In that category, we gave this facility a B-. Our short-term care scores are based in part on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a broad range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. It does not look like this facility provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The final item we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 5.5 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is below average.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The last category we analyzed was long-term care. This facility received a C in the area. Our long-term care ratings are more critical for people in need of more traditional services related to activities of daily living. One of the statistics we considered on top of nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. Thankfully, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 95.60811 percent of its residents. Finally, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
