Registered Staff Hours
Long-term Care Quality
Although we graded this nursing home extremely poorly overall, it received a better long-term care rating this year. We gave it a C in that area, which is the closest thing to a bright spot we can find for this facility. Our long-term care scores are more meaningful for those in need of more traditional services related to personal care. One of the statistics we considered on top of nurse's aid hours was vaccinations. Thankfully, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. Lastly, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Short-term Care Quality
Incredibly, we awarded this facility a C for our short-term care grade, which isn't too bad of a score. Short-term care ratings are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a broad spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. In this place's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than a typical facility. The hope is always that this does not adversely affect the quality of care. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 5.4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was actually well below average.

Facility Inspections
We also wanted to point out this place's inspection grade where it received an F. For nursing homes with poor inspection scores, you should really focus on any severe deficiencies found on their inspection reports. This nursing home had 3 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only positive thing we can say is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they posed a risk to patient safety or health. Lastly, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.
Nurse Quality
The last category we graded was nursing. Sadly, it received a lowly F for this category, which is a poor score. Nursing scores are mostly tied to the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averaged a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is not a very impressive figure. On top of its subpar nursing hour totals, this nursing home received suboptimal scores in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in determining our nursing grades. We found that more of this facility's residents suffered falls leading to serious injury.
