Nurse Quality
On top of receiving a poor overall grade, we also gave this nursing home poor scores across the board in our category grades. It received just a D for its nursing score, which was its best grade. The nursing rating features several factors. The most important variable is the amount of time nurses spend with patients. This place provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day, which is below average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing scores. This facility fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's next most respectable score was short-term care, but it still received a grade of just D in that area. This ended up being a relatively poor grade. Short-term care ratings are meaningful for patients looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes additional highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a broad range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. With its grade in this category, we weren't surprised to learn that this facility was well below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. Honestly, this was what we expected here. The final datapoint we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that just 3.3 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home, which is well below average. The combination of these subpar metrics was damning for this facility's short-term care score.

Facility Inspections
We also wanted to draw your attention to this nursing home's inspection grades where it received an F. This generally means we found some red flags on the inspection reports. With places that received this poor of an inspection grade, we recommend scrutinizing the severe deficiencies on its inspection report. This nursing home was hit with 3 deficiencies by CMS. The only favorable thing we can say is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they posed a threat to resident health or safety. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we assessed was long-term care. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F in this category, which is a very poor grade. In a long-term care environment, the facility's primary objective is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate residents. After looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is better than the majority of nursing homes. Surprisingly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.05 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
