Registered Staff Hours
Long-term Care Quality
In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this facility excelled in long-term care. In fact, we awarded it an impressive grade of A for that category. Nursing homes that excel in long-term care typically provide patients with more supervision and stay on top of routine healthcare services. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly is often a deadly ailment for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a nursing home doesn't take any chances. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Facility Inspections
Turning to inspections, this nursing home excelled in that area, which is based on the facility's recent inspections. In fact, we awarded it an A for that category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are quite minor. This place was hit with 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe. This means that the government inspectors didn't consider any of these deficiencies to cause an immediate threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Nurse Quality
This facility is also strong in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. Our nursing grade is primarily tied to the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as by employing a protocol of turning patients even once per day.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we looked at is short-term care. We awarded this nursing home one of our higher scores in this area, with a grade of B. Although this wasn't as favorable as a few of its other scores, it is still a positive score. Short-term care grades are based on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a vast scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. We were not able to locate registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this facility. Finally, we assessed the number of residents that ultimately were able to return home from this facility. We found that 4.9 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
