Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
On top of being a first rate nursing home overall, this facility also excelled in nursing, where it received an A. Our nursing rating includes several subcategories, however, the paramount consideration is the quantity of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as having a policy of moving patients more frequently.
Short-term Care Quality
Contributing to its fine assessment, this facility also was given an excellent short-term care score, with a grade of A-. Our short-term care ratings are thought to be more meaningful for residents in need of rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation generally mandates more highly-skilled nursing services. This means not merely nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the number of patients that returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.7 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Facility Inspections
This nursing home has had near flawless government inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A- in this category. Arguably the most critical factor we consider in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with better scores in this area most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This place was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered severe. This means that CMS did not consider any of these deficiencies to cause an immediate risk to resident health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we analyzed was long-term care. This nursing home was given an above average long-term care score this year, with a grade of B-. While this is not as dominant as many of its other grades, this is nevertheless a respectable rating in that category. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 79.655174 percent of its patients. This is several points below what we expected. Fortunately, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
