Long-term Care Quality
In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home excelled in our shot-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. Facilities that do well in long-term care typically are well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to patients. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is very impressive. Pneumonia sadly can be a dangerous condition for nursing home residents so we strongly prefer when a facility does not leave this to chance. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Nurse Quality
Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A. Nursing ratings are primarily associated with the nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality
Turning our third area, this facility was awarded a strong short-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in this category. In calculating our short-term care grades, we assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The objective is to devise a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 5.4 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
Facility Inspections
Adding to its other impressive category grades, we gave this nursing home a score of B+ for its inspection grade. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this place had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
