Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Inspection ratings weigh several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with better scores in this category generally have very few of these severe deficiencies. This facility was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility received high scores in the category of long-term care as well. Indeed, it received one of our most favorable grades in that area with a area of A. When nursing homes receive this type of score in long-term care it is typically a good sign for patient care and indicates that the place is well-staffed with nurses and aids. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 99.4709 percent of its patients, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia sadly is often a dangerous ailment for nursing home patients so we like it when a facility does not roll the dice on this issue. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality
This facility received a very good nursing grade this year as well. It received one of our better scores in that category with a grade of B. In determining a facility's nursing score, we weigh the number of hours nurses are caring for patients and the level of skill of those nurses. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as having a system of moving a patient more frequently.
Short-term Care Quality
The last category we scored was this nursing home's poorest area. Nevertheless, even in its weakest link we still gave it an acceptable grade of C for short-term care. Our short-term care ratings are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a broad range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this facility provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The final item we assessed in this area is the number of patients that ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
