Facility Inspections
One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is it earned a very impressive inspection grade. Inspections turned out to be its best category. In this category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection scores. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be quite insignificant. While this place had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Contributing to its impressive resume, this nursing home also performed well in our long-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a score of A in the area. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 97.881355 percent of its residents. Vaccines are critical to keeping patients out of the hospital. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality
Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A. Nursing grades are heavily correlated with nurse staffing levels. This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
The fourth area we graded was short-term care, where this facility was awarded a grade of A-. This wrapped up a very strong report card. Not many facilities received an A- or better in all four categories. Our short-term care ratings are based on the nursing home's quantity of skilled nursing services. This includes a broad spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last measure we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that 4.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
