Facility Inspections
While we graded this place incredibly poorly overall, it actually received a fairly impressive inspection report this year. As a result, it earned one of our better scores in that area with a B+. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection grades. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some are quite insignificant. This place was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that the inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to be an immediate risk to resident health or safety. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
Tragically, this facility received an F for its short-term care score. Our short-term care ratings are presumably most important for those needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation typically mandates more highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not only nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Given its score in this area, we were not stunned to learn that this nursing home was well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the figures we looked at. The last metric we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 4.4 percent of its patients returning home. This was well below average.

Long-term Care Quality
The third area we graded is long-term care. This facility's was given a low-end long-term care grade where it received an F. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We discovered that this nursing home provided the vaccine to only 53.61842 percent of its residents, which is slightly concerning. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This is its best feature in this category.
Nurse Quality
Turning to the final area, this nursing home really didn't perform very well here either. Due to a poor grade of F in nursing, this is about as bad as it gets. In determining our nursing grades, we weigh both nursing hours and the training levels of those nurses. This facility averaged only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. To go along with its low totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this place also did not fare as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in determining our nursing ratings. We looked at the percent of patients experiencing pressure ulcers and major falls. This nursing home had more falls and pressure ulcers than the average nursing home. This could be a bad sign when you consider that many falls and bed sores are believed to be preventable with better nursing care. These scores pulled down this facility's nursing rating significantly.
