Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a strong facility overall, it also earned A+ inspections in recent years. Its inspections are virtually perfect. Inspection grades weigh a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher scores in this area tend to have very few of these severe deficiencies. This nursing home received 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered severe. This tells you that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

We also would like to alert you to the fact that this facility was given a superb score of A- in our short-term care category. Short-term care grades are typically employed to gauge a facility's performance with rehabilitation. In order to offer highly graded rehabilitation services, facilities generally must provide better levels of highly skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other licensed professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients that eventually returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Moving on our next area, this nursing home was given an excellent long-term care score. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- in this area. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 98.75 percent of its residents. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents healthy. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

In our last category, this facility also was awarded an excellent nursing rating, with a grade of B+. This finished off a very favorable profile. The nursing score includes several factors, but the paramount one is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
