Nurse Quality
In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home received an A+ for nursing. There are many factors included in this area. Many of the criteria reflect staffing levels. This particular facility provided 5.1 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This was one of the highest figures we found. In addition, we found that a significant portion of this care was provided by registered nurses, which are highly skilled nurses. Both of these statistics are impressive. On top of providing impressive levels of care, this nursing home also performed well in several of the quality measures we looked at. In terms of the number of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, this facility outpaced the national average.
Facility Inspections
Adding to an already impressive profile, this facility also received virtually flawless health inspections in recent years. As a result, we awarded it an A+ inspection grade. Arguably the most important factor we consider in calculating our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this category most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. We were not able to locate information about this nursing home's deficiencies. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we looked at was long-term care. This facility was superb in our long-term care category as well. We awarded them an elite score of A+ in this area. For residents in need of a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are very important. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 91.150444 percent of its patients, which is somewhat lower than we anticipated. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.1 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to our final category, this nursing home also performed admirably in our short-term care category. We gave it an A- for that category. This completed truly elite profile. In determining these short-term care ratings, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The objective is to formulate a barometer for comparing the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. One reason for this facility's favorable grade in this area is that it offers more care from registered nurses than a typical nursing home. The final metric we looked at in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. It was respectable in this area with 48.6 percent of its residents returning home.
