Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In addition to being a first rate nursing home overall, this nursing home also excelled in our short-term care rating, where it received a grade of A. In the area of short-term care, we attempt to qualify measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We assess a nursing home's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final metric we considered in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 6.4 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A- for our inspections rating. In determining a nursing home's nursing score, we look at the number of hours nurses are caring for residents and the level of licensure of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as employing a protocol of moving a patient more frequently.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

This facility has received near flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A- in this category. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher grades in this area typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. We were not able to track down information on deficiency's for this nursing home. Without having access to deficiency data for this nursing home, it ended up being challenging to grade it in the area of inspections.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final category we scored was long-term care. We gave this facility a decent grade in this category, with a B-. Although this isn't as favorable as many of this facility's other scores, it is still not a poor grade. Long-term care grades focus on a facility's personal care rather than the skilled nursing or medical services that are critical to a rehabilitation facility. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this facility vaccinated 96.1165 percent of its patients, which is a very solid statistic. This place was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
