Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of C for our short-term care rating. In computing our short-term care grades, we assess a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This category is frequently a reliable assessment of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We found that this facility was below average in the two key staffing areas we assessed. The facility offered fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. It is important to determine whether this is adversely impacting the quality of care. Finally, we assessed the percentage of patients that were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was actually quite a bit below average.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

Remarkably, we awarded this nursing home a grade of C for our nursing rating, which isn't a bad grade. Nursing ratings are largely based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided just 0.5 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This figure is far below average. Lastly, while this facility got docked a bit for nursing hours, it actually excelled in a few of our quality measures. With fewer than five percent of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, it did well in this subcategory.

Facility Inspections

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this facility didn't receive glowing inspections in recent years. We gave it a grade of just D for our inspections rating. Inspection grades account for a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. You should be more cautious when considering a facility that has severe deficiencies on its inspection reports. This particular nursing home was hit with 8 deficiencies by CMS. The only positive thing we can say is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that suggest that they created a risk to resident health or safety. Finally, CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The next area we graded is long-term care. It received a lowly F in this area, which is a rock bottom score. For prospective patients looking for a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are very important. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 95.970695 percent of its patients, which is better than most nursing homes. To our surprise, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
