Short-term Care Quality
In addition to earning a great overall grade, this facility received an A+ in the category of short-term care. Short-term care grades are commonly used to score a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To provide good rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to provide better levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final datapoint we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients that ultimately returned home from the nursing home. We found that 6.4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
Nurse Quality
Adding to this nursing home's list of strengths, it also received an excellent nursing grade. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this category. Nursing ratings are mostly based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as by having a protocol of turning a resident at least once a day.

Facility Inspections
This nursing home earned a B for its inspections rating. This is an above average grade in this area. Our inspection ratings are based on many pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that receive favorable grades in this area typically have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This place received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered severe. This means that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. We should point out that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in the industry.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we graded is long-term care. This facility was awarded an impressive long-term care rating in our assessment, with a B-. Although this is not as good as many of its other scores, this remains a decent grade in that category. For residents in need of a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this facility gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is an above average datapoint. Lastly, this facility was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
