Facility Inspections
On top of being a strong facility overall, it also earned A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections are virtually perfect. These inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this place had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also was given a high-end long-term care score. Indeed, this is this facility's second best category score. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of A. Facilities that excel in this category typically provide patients with closer supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 96.02386 percent of its residents, which is higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 1.51 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes.
Nurse Quality
Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A. Our nursing rating is based on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We look at both the levels of training of the nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with residents. This place offers 3.5 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis, of which more than one hour was provided by registered nurses. This is one of the more highly trained levels of nurses. In calculating our nursing grades, we add more weight to hours performed by registered nurses. Finally, we also assessed certain nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We look at these datapoints as good measures of the quality of nursing care provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our last category, this nursing home also performed admirably in our short-term care category. We gave it a B+ in that category. This topped off a very impressive profile. Short-term care grades are meaningful for prospective residents requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. This means a wide spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. One reason for this facility's strong score in this category is that it provides more care with registered nurses to its residents than the average nursing home. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return home from this facility. This place performed decently in this area, with 47.8 percent of its residents returning home.
