Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall score, we gave this nursing home an A for our inspections rating. Inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few relatively minor deficiencies aren't something to panic about.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. In fact, nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A-. Our nursing score is largely tied to a nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality
Turning to our next category, this facility also earned a grade of B+ for its short-term care rating. This is an above average score in this category. In crafting our short-term care ratings, we quantify the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our goal is to devise a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we considered in this category is the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from the nursing home. We found that 4.7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we analyzed proved to be this facility's weakest area. Nevertheless, even in its weakest link we still gave it a respectable grade of B- in long-term care. In our long-term care assessment, we assess the volume of care offered by a facility, along with some quality measures. One of the statistics we considered on top of nursing hours is vaccines. Frankly, we were a bit concerned this facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to only 90.310074 percent of its patients. Nevertheless, this facility keeps its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
