Facility Inspections
On top of being a quality nursing home overall, this place excelled in our inspections category, where it earned an A. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Perhaps the most significant factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this area most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This place was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies to create an imminent risk to resident health or safety. A couple relatively minor dings are not necessarily something to panic about.
Short-term Care Quality
Another strong feature for this nursing home is that it received a very positive short-term care score. Indeed, this wound up being its second best category grade. In this category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B. Our short-term care grade is typically used to score a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To provide highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally must feature better levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other licensed professionals. Unfortunately, it does not appear that this nursing home provided data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The last statistic we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that 5.8 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality
Turning to the third area, this nursing home also received a score of B for its long-term care rating. This is a well above average grade in this area. For residents in need of a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. After looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 79.723045 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is slightly less than we were hoping for but still a decent percentage. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, we were pleased to find facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Nurse Quality
Turning to our fourth area, we awarded this nursing home a D for our nursing category. This was the facility's weakest category grade. Sadly, this grade pulled down the nursing home's overall grade a bit. We weighed the skill-level of nurses at the facility, as well as the number of hours the nurses worked with residents, in computing our grade in this area. This particular place offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This statistic is significantly below average. While this facility's nursing hours were below average, it surprised us in some of the qualitative metrics in this category. In particular, we were pleased to see that its residents are suffering fewer pressure ulcers than the national average.
