Facility Inspections
The primary reason this ended up being a decent nursing home is that it received an elite inspection grade. Its inspection grade was far better than its overall score. In our inspections category, we gave it an A+. These inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. This is an excellent sign for the quality of care at this nursing home.
Long-term Care Quality
In addition, we also would like to note that this facility was given strong long-term care marks in this assessment. We gave them one of our higher scores in this area, with a grade of B. This proved to be the nursing home's second best grade. For residents looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are an important measure. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 86.59004 percent of its residents. This is a few points less than we anticipated but still a decent percentage. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality
Turning to another strength for this facility, it also earned an elite nursing grade. We gave this facility an D. The nursing rating considers many datapoints. The most heavily weighted one is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This facility offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing scores. This nursing home fared well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's least impressive category is short-term care, which is the last area we analyzed. It received an F in this category. In spite of some respectable grades in other categories, this score is nevertheless alarming so we would like to to draw your attention to it. With our short-term care grade, we strive to craft a fair measure for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we look at a nursing home's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. With a score of this caliber in this area, we weren't stunned to discover that this facility was well below average in two of the key staffing figures we assess. The nursing home supplied substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other nursing homes. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.4 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.
