Facility Inspections
Although this nursing home's overall score was terrible, it fared well in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a B+ for that area, which is one of our better scores. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection ratings. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some end up being quite minor. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Not having any deficiencies proved to be this facility's greatest strength.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home really excelled in our nursing category, where it received an D. Our nursing rating is primarily based on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. With only 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily, this place's nurse staffing levels were significantly below average. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing scores. This facility performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these metrics to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality
We awarded this facility a grade of just D for our short-term care grade. This is not a score to write home about. Our short-term care ratings are critical for prospective residents requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires more skilled nursing services. This means a wide spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we scored was long-term care. This nursing home received an abysmal grade of F in that area. Nursing homes that receive this kind of score in this category may not provide the type of consistent around the clock care that some other facilities provide. One of the criteria we considered on top of nursing hours is vaccinations. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 91.17647 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this facility actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
