Facility Inspections
To go along with its favorable overall grade, we awarded this facility a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Our inspection scores weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher grades in this category generally have few of these severe deficiencies. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. We should note that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in the industry.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home fared well in the area of short-term care. Indeed, we gave it a score of A for that area, which turns out to be one of our most favorable grades. Our short-term care grades are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of skilled nursing services. This means a broad spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. One of this nursing home's strengths is registered nurse hours. We found that it offers more care from registered nurses to its residents than most facilities. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who returned home from this facility. We found that it outperformed the overwhelming majority of nursing homes in this area with 74.7 percent of its patients returning home.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a strong nursing score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B in this area. Our nursing grade analyzes the facility's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of training of the nurses and the number of hours spent with residents. This particular nursing home provided 4.1 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis, which was among the better totals we found. Lastly, we also looked at nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing ratings. These include minimizing residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We view these metrics as good indicators of the caliber of nursing care being provided, since better care tends to reduce these problems.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to the last category, this facility was awarded a respectable long-term care rating. Although this wasn't as dominant as many of its other scores, this is really not the end of the world. In calculating our long-term care grades, we scrutinize the assistance with daily living offered to the nursing home's residents. Although we determined this facility had an above average quantity of nursing care provided by nurses and other nursing staff, we found its vaccination rate to be a bit below average. This nursing home gave the pneumonia vaccine to just 89.81723 percent of its patients. This is a statistic we'd really like to see this nursing home improve on. Nevertheless, this place keeps its patients out of the hospital. It had only 1.29 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a much lower hospitalization rate than the average nursing home.
