Facility Inspections
The primary reason this turned out to be a decent nursing home is that it received an elite inspection score. In fact, its inspection score was far superior to its overall score. In the inspections category, we gave it a grade of A-. Our inspection grades account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher scores in this area tend to have few of these severe deficiencies. This place was hit with 12 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This indicates that CMS did not deem any of these deficiencies an imminent risk to resident safety or health. A couple of minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing rating. In fact, nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this nursing home an B+. The nursing score considers a variety of datapoints. The most important one is the number of hours nurses spend with residents. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality
The next category we assessed is short-term care, where this nursing home received a grade of B- in this area. Short-term care ratings are based on the nursing home's quantity of skilled nursing services. This includes a vast scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, this nursing home was below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the metrics we assessed. The important question is whether this adversely impacted quality of care. The last item we looked at in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 4.6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is actually below average.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our fourth category, this facility really did not perform very well. Due to a very poor grade of F in long-term care, this is its worst category. Nursing homes that do not fare well in this category often do not provide as much nursing care and also may be struggling in some of the areas of routine healthcare services we assessed. On top of assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. As it turns out, this nursing home provided the vaccine to only 75.34626 percent of its patients, which is quite a bit lower than we expected. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best score in this category.
