Registered Staff Hours
Short-term Care Quality
While we graded this nursing home incredibly poorly overall, it received a decent short-term care rating this year. We gave it a grade of B- in that area, which was the closest thing to a bright spot we can find for this nursing home. In computing our short-term care grades, we look at a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This score is typically a fair measure of the nursing home's rehabilitation. Unfortunately, we found that this facility provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Finally, we considered the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.6 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's second most respectable category was long-term care, but even there it earned just a D in that area. This still happens to be a well below average grade. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 78.92857 percent of its residents. This is multiple points less than what we were hoping for. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.

Nurse Quality
Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. There are a variety of criteria within this grade. Most of the criteria reflect staffing levels. This place provided a meager 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in computing our nursing scores. This facility fared well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Facility Inspections
In our final category of inspections, this facility received a horrible grade. For facilities with poor inspection ratings, you should scrutinize any severe deficiencies found on their inspection reports. This facility was hit with several deficiencies in categories G through L, which rank among the more serious deficiencies. These categories indicate that the deficiencies found by inspectors had the potential to create actual harm to residents. Another red flag is that CMS cited this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. Hopefully, its performance improves in the future, but until then we simply can't recommend this facility.
