Facility Inspections
Although we did not have many positive things to say about this facility's overall grade, it did receive a somewhat respectable inspection report this year. It received a decent score in this area with a B-. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection ratings. One key factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some are quite minor. While this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
We awarded this facility a respectable grade in the area of nursing as well, with a grade of B-. Our nursing rating is mostly associated with a nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This place averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day, which is not an impressive total. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures. While this facility got docked a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it excelled in a few of these quality metrics. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it fared very well in this metric. This is typically an indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as by employing a system of turning a resident at least once a day.

Short-term Care Quality
The next highest category we awarded this nursing home in any area came in the category of short-term care, where we awarded it a grade of C. In computing our short-term care scores, we scrutinize the facility's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other types of therapists. This area is more often than not a reliable measure of the facility's ability to rehabilitate patients. Unfortunately, this nursing home was below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. The last metric we considered in this area is the number of residents who returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 5.5 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we scored was long-term care, is this nursing home's worst category. We awarded this nursing home a grade of D in that area. Facilities that receive this kind of score in this category likely don't provide the type of consistent around the clock care that some other facilities offer. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Candidly, we were a bit alarmed this facility administered the vaccine to a relatively low 80.620155 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this place actually fared well at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
