Facility Inspections
One of the reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is it earned an A+ in our inspections category. This is simply as good as it gets in this very important category. Inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Unfortunately, it does not appear that we were able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
An additional reason we assessed this nursing home so favorably is that it received an A+ short-term care score. This is flat out as strong as it gets in this category. Short-term care grades are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This means a broad scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Remarkably, this place provides about 1.5 times as many hours of services from registered nurses and physical therapists than most nursing homes we assessed. This is definitely an excellent sign. The last datapoint we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that it fared as well as just about any facility in New Jersey in this area with 65.5 percent of its residents returning home.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility also performed well in the category of long-term care, where it received a score of A. Not many nursing homes fared better in this category. When nursing homes receive this kind of grade in long-term care it is usually a good sign for resident care and suggests that the place is well-staffed with nurses aids. After looking at the impressive nursing care provided by this nursing home, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 99.18033 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is significantly higher than most nursing homes. This combination proved to be successful as this nursing home keeps its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 1.27 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a substantially lower hospitalization rate than most nursing homes.
Nurse Quality
In the last category, this nursing home also was given an impressive nursing rating, with a grade of A-. This finished off a first-rate report card. Nursing scores are based largely on levels of nurse staffing. This facility provided 5 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This was one of the highest figures we found. In addition, we found that a significant portion of this care was provided by registered nurses, which are highly skilled nurses. These are both really impressive figures. On top of offering high levels of care, this facility also performed well in several of the quality measures we looked at. In terms of the percentage of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, this nursing home outpaced the national average.
