Facility Inspections
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a B+ for our inspections category. This was the result of the facility receiving a quality government inspection report this year. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can learn more about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This place was hit with 7 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe deficiencies. This means that CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies to be an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this facility received an F for its long-term care grade. Long-term care grades in this range generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 89.45783 percent of its patients. This is several points below what we were hoping for. Surprisingly, this facility was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 1.45 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.

Nurse Quality
Among this nursing home's several poor grades was its F in the area of nursing care. We assessed the qualifications of nurses working for the facility, in addition to the quantity of time the nurses were with residents, in computing our rating in this category. This nursing home provides 3.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is slightly below average. To pair with its low totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this facility also did not fare as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in determining our nursing ratings. We looked at the percentage of residents sustaining pressure ulcers and major falls. This place had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average facility.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to the final category, this nursing home really didn't fare well in this category either. With a poor grade of F in short-term care, this is really as bad as it gets. In determining our short-term care scores, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The goal is to formulate a scale for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different facilities. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The last datapoint we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 48.7 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
