Facility Inspections

Grade: A

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Places with higher grades in this area typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. We should note that deficiency-free inspections are rare in this industry.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Contributing to its profile, this facility also earned a grade of B+ for its short-term care rating. This is an above average score in this area. Our short-term care scores are likely most meaningful for folks in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically mandates additional highly-skilled nursing. This means not just nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last item we considered in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that 5.6 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

This facility was awarded its next best category grade in the area of long-term care. We awarded this nursing home a grade of B- in this area, which is a decent score. For residents in need of a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is a very important category. Once we concluded our assessment of the quantity of nursing care, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination records. Frankly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility vaccinated a relatively low 65.02732 percent of its patients against pneumonia. On a more positive note, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The last category we graded is nursing. We gave this facility a C in that area. Our nursing score assesses a handful of data points, most of which are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Lastly, we also factored a few quality measures into our nursing ratings. This place was relatively weak in a few of the major areas we look at, with below average scores for minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. These areas are usually reliable measures of the quality of nursing care available.
